Nursing Services
Our dedicated, compassionate nursing staff consists of oncology-certified infusion nurses and certified medical/nursing assistants to provide exceptional care to you. If you will be receiving any type of infusion therapy, you will meet with one of our nurses prior to the treatment. During this time, they will explain in detail your treatment, the possible side effects, and any laboratory needs. An appointment will be made for this one hour teaching session. It is a good idea to bring a family member or friend with you so they a clear understanding of what to expect.

Laboratory Services
Each office has laboratory capabilities to perform testing on site. Several test results are available within 30 minutes of the blood draw. This allows our doctors and nurses to have the most current picture of your condition before any further treatments are given. If you are currently under the care of several physicians we can provide lab results to your other doctors to eliminate unnecessary duplicate testing and excessive out of pocket expenses.

Intermed Oncology, Associates Laboratory has also met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey. Intermed Oncology Associates Laboratory has earned COLA accreditation as a result of a long-term commitment to provide quality service to its patients.

COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement, and accreditation. COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Business Office/Insurance Assistance
Our Business Office is located in Suite #105 at the Homewood Office. Business Office personnel are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. The direct telephone number is (708) 957-1363. You may also call the general Homewood office number and your call will be transferred.

A representative from the Business Office may already have contacted you prior to your first visit to obtain billing information and review your insurance benefits. Our experienced billing staff will file all claims on your behalf; however, you will be responsible for any and all co-payments or deductibles/co-insurance due. We ask that payments be made at the time of service.

Please be aware that not all insurance companies allow our office to perform all of the services you may need. Most insurance companies have pre-certification requirements to get prior approval for services so they will be properly reimbursed. It is your responsibility to know what your insurance covers. You should notify the business office promptly of any insurance plan or benefit changes. Failure to do so may result in incurring large out-of-pocket expenses. Should you have any questions, one of our insurance specialists will be happy to assist you. Please call (708) 957-1363 for assistance.

X-ray, CT/PET Scan Services
Ideally all X-ray and CT/PET scans should be scheduled at the same facility. However, we understand that this may not always be possible due to insurance or personal reasons. We ask that if you must change facilities, you bring your original films from the previous facility with you so the radiologist can compare the films. We will be happy to give you an order to have your films released. If you need assistance, please see a receptionist at either office or call the Homewood office at (708) 957-2100 or the Tinley Park office at (708) 342-1900.

Medical Records
The goal in the medical records department is to provide the best possible service to our physicians, nurses and patients as well as maintain patient charts with all of the current medical information available. We will respond to requests for our patient’s medical information in a timely manner with proper authorization. We ensure that confidentiality of medical information on our patients is strictly adhered to. We track our charts between offices and work closely with the medical assistants and business office to manage the same. We work closely with referring physicians to obtain previous medical information for your initial visit with us so that our doctors have all the available correspondence for your appointment.

Clinical Trials
Intermed Oncology has access to Ingalls Hospital's Clinical Research Program to offer our patients the most up-to-date treatment options - a plus in the community setting. Our office also participates in trials sponsored by various pharmaceutical companies to complete this commitment to clinical and scientific excellence in a caring environment.
